'Alias' to Premiere Commercial-Free Taking a page from last season, ABC has secured a single sponsor for the premiere of its new fall show "Alias," which will debut commercial-free and without interruption on Sunday, Sept. 30. Cellular phone maker Nokia will sponsor the show in an ongoing deal, which will include placement for Nokia phones. However, Stu Bloomberg, co-chairman of ABC Entertainment Television Group, told reporters Sunday during the Television Critics Association press tour that the deal wouldn't result in obvious use of the phones, though the brand is featured prominently in the pilot for the series.
"If there is product placement it will be very organic," Bloomberg says. Nokia is also sponsoring a contest where winners would win a trip to the "Alias" set.
Jennifer Garner ("Pearl Harbor" ) stars, along with Ron Rifkin and Victor Garber. J.J. Abrams created and executive produces the series.
ABC did a similar deal for "Gideon's Crossing" last year, when Johnson & Johnson sponsored the premiere. Related Shows
